3D spatial resolution characterization for volumetric computed tomography

Spatial resolution is a key parameter that determines the smallest resolved scale in volumetric computed tomography. However, evaluation process typically confined within plane, and tomographic usually treated as two dimensional concept. In this work, full map of three-dimensional (3D) spatial along radial directions was obtained through combined laser induced fluorescence measurement on well-controlled test rig, reconstruction, successive analysis. The results show non-uniformly distributed weak dependence view angles. Moreover, both experimental algorithmic factors were quantitatively quantified. convergence then validated series computation with increasing voxel numbers. It found improves until number voxels reaches ∼19.6 times much value set by linear algebraic limit. ultimate can be our setup about 1.35 lp/mm, which twice well-posed system. method work more appropriate to quantify 3D space. conclusions made generalized for applications other tomography-based measurements.
